Branches of Government Jigsaw

Last week, we began to explore the three branches of the U.S. government. Students were assigned one branch to become an expert in (executive, legislative, or judicial). Students were responsible for reading about their assigned branch and preparing written responses to share with their jigsaw groups.

After students completed their "jigsaw piece", they were grouped with students who completed the other two pieces of the puzzle. Students had to teach their groups about their piece and also listen to their group members in order to help them learn about the remaining two branches. What a great display of our ATL focus-communication!

Once students learned about all three branches, they worked in groups to present what they learned. We will be moving on to balance of power and how our laws are made later this week!
